September Challenge of the Month: We Came, We LARPed, We Conquered.

I went LARPing this past weekend with Jill and Kelly.

We drove four hours away to play with a group of LARPers.

Was it worth the drive? Hell yes!  This story is a good one.

I didn’t know what to expect, but being the chick that I am, I was up for anything.

(If you don’t know what the challenge of the month is, click here and I’ll get you up to speed!)

LARP means Live Action Role Playing.

Larping is a game where a group of people wear costumes representing a character they create, to participate in a fantasy world using foam sticks, foam balls, etc. to create the games world. #HungerGamesStyleBaby

We were briefed by the Master of Ceremonies on the rules of the game.

  • Know the game
  • Know the world
  • Make interesting characters
  • Consult the game masters
  • Separate fiction from reality

Meet Victoria Graul, an eight-year-old witch trapped in a woman’s body.

And of course, I was evil. #RightOn

I was given instructions about what I needed to do:

  • Find some dude named Luke
  • Befriend him
  • Convince him to drink my potion
  • He will perish
  • I would take over the world

Yup. That sounds just right.

Kelly and Jill were Warlord Bandits. WooWoo! They suited up and were thrown into an army. (Good thing they wore sneakers.)

I went on my mission and much to my surprise, it was harder than I thought. Nobody would help me find Luke. I tried to make alliances but my childish charms weren’t working. And then Bam! my potion was stolen by another character. Right outta my hand! #GameOver

Where were Jill and Kelly? Oh you know, just down the hill fighting in a bloody battle to the death.

Unfortunately the Warlords were defeated, but my girls were the last two standing. Get it gurls!

We were sad to leave, as another game was starting, but it was a long ride home.

It was a perfect day, so much to be thankful for.

LARPing was a crazy cool experience. Everyone was 100% committed to their characters which made it feel like we were in a completely different world. Escapism at its finest.

What have you been up to this month? Any new adventures you wanna share?

If you haven’t yet, get out there and do something new! Life is a limitless journey.
